» Nonlinear electrical circuits with mixed-mode oscillations

There have been several papers published in the recent years on an interesting phenomenon called the mixed-mode oscillations (MMOs). The MMOs occur in a number of chemical and biological dynamical systems, such as, for example, in the famous Belousov - Zhabotinsky reaction [1], compartmental model of the dopamine neuron [2], Hodgkin-Huxley model of neuron dynamics [3], dynamics of the peroxidase reaction [4]. There have also been a few reports of various electronic circuits exhibiting oscillations similar or close to MMOs, including the RLC plus a tunnel diode oscillators [5], autonomous Van der Pol - Duffing circuit [6] and a modified version of the Chua’s circuit [7,8].
