  Introduct ion The method of factor ranging [4], which was developed some time ago, uses the semantic network of the publishing process as an output information base, taking into account the relationships between factors and being formally oriented by their number and direction of influence or dependency basically. This does not take into account the essential features of the semantic network, which, in addition to the above characteristics, contains atomic predicates, expressed by linguistic terms describing the types of relationships. Thus, the conversion of atomic predicates into numerical parameters and their inclusion in the form of special weight factors will strengthen or weaken the relationship between the components of the network. It will result in the optimization of the models of the factors priority influence on the processes of forming the book quality. In this regard, the relevance of the problem focused on the development of the method for determining the weight of atomic predicates of semantic networks in publishing processes presented by linguistic terms, associated with the corresponding factors, the introduction and the calculation of coefficients of strengthening or weakening of the relationships between factors is undoubtedly important. The above-mentioned scientific and applied task is partly realized by the researches. The results are presented in publications oriented on modeling of information technologies of forming the quality of publishing and printing processes. At the same time, the methodology for solving the problem of forecasting and ensuring the quality of publishing and printing processes has been disclosed [1].   Introduction The printing process gives the perfection of design phases and preprinting processing of editions. It materializes the author’s idea in the form of finally formed printing products. On the one hand, the printing process accumulates quality indicators of a copy, on the other hand, it demonstrates the level and the quality of printing itself. It is worth noticing that in order to obtain the proper quality a significant part of control procedures is made before printing: providing a choice of appropriate materials, operating modes of the printing press, technological parameters with the required characteristics. The next phase is the quality control of proof prints, which takes into account the decision to finish the printing process or its repeat with modified parameters. As is known [2, 3, 5, 7], the control is carried out with using visual, electronic tools and statistical methods, which stipulates the involvement of experienced experts, electronic measurement tools, experimental data that is processed with methods of probability and mathematical statistics. As initial data is unknown, it is difficult to predict where the repetition of these control options will stop, because only the descriptive or numerical values of the criteria are known. In obedience to these values, a decision about the final of the printing run is made. Accepted schemes and methods provide the proper quality of products. However, the complexity of the procedures which accompanying the control process and providing the quality of the edition, necessity of expenses of additional materials, printing equipment and staff time is quite significant.   Problem def ini tion In the printing and packaging industry flexographic printing technique is widely used for the production of various types of printed products, which has a number of advantages: a large range of printing materials, profitability in a wide range of circulation, the creation of promotional products and labels manufacturing. The use of flexography for journals printing has shown its competitiveness with web and sheet printing techniques [1, 3]. A number of new technologies and materials have been developed, in particular, solid photo-polymerization materials, direct laser engraving of printing plates, laser technologies with the use of masked photopolymers which have increased the quality of gradual tone transferring, the accuracy of the shaded elements reproduction, reducing the dot gain of printing elements that enhance the quality of printed products. The inking devices of flexographic printing presses based on the anilox ink feeding roller do not have the mechanisms for adjusting the zonal ink supply; therefore they do not provide constant ink thickness on the imprint surface, which restricts their u is not constant and it depends on the interval of tone transferring. Taking this into consideration, the modeling of flexographic halftone reproduction transferring of rasterized image with a change in the ink thickness on the tone transferring interval is an actual task. Processes of tone transferring that occur in flexographic printing systems are complex and caused by the circulation of direct and reverse ink flows, modulated by a rasterized image of printing plate [8].   Problem def ini tion The reproduction of halftone images in printing is called half toning as this process means the way of tones reproduction by changing the areas of inked printing elements and spacing. Normally, in offset printing, an ink layer of constant thickness is applied on the whole surface of screened printing elements. Only the printing area parameter changes depending on the optical density of original [1]. Basic processes (screening, platemaking and printing) have nonlinear tone reproduction performance influenced by different factors [1]. Tone reproduction processes of halftone images with constant thickness of ink layer as well their types and schemes, synthesis and adjustment of tone reproduction are well known and clearly described [2, 5, 6, 10, 12]. Many European companies use short inking units (printing systems) supplied with multiple anilox ink rollers for newspaper printing on offset presses. But these devices are of limited use in printing as they do not have enough tools able to control zone ink supply and therefore do not ensure a constant thickness of ink layer applied on the impression surface within the interval of tone reproduction [6, 9]. In the above-mentioned ink-printing systems the amount of ink applied on the surface depends on two things: the area of screen elements and the thickness of ink layer applied on the impression surface depending on the tone reproduction interval. That is why in order to increase the quality of impressions at the stage of screening two parameters should be taken into account.
